楽曲「水を編む人々」について
「水を編む人々」は金沢市街地を流れる用水路から着想を得て、ジャズをエッセンスにしたオルタナティブな楽曲です。ギター、ピアノ、ベース、ドラムという伝統的なギターカルテットの編成に、セカンドギターがアンビエントなサウンドを繰り広げ、更にストリングスカルテットが加わることで唯一無二の世界観を展開しています。「演奏する人々によって姿を変える続ける」をコンセプトに紡がれた同曲のメロディはいかなる編曲でも耳に残り、国境を越えて多くの人々に奏でられるポテンシャルを秘めているでしょう。合わせてヴィオラとピアノによる「水を編む人々」の別バージョンと、平原慎士が金沢市民芸術村レジデントアーティスト期間中に作曲した別曲も順次配信予定ですので、ぜひご期待ください！

金沢市は長いあいだ戦⽕や大震災を免れてきた幸い、綿々と続く日本の原風景が街に溶け込み、豊かな文化を醸成してきた背景がある。戦前は日本海を渡る大陸への玄関として、国内外を結ぶ交流の地でもあった。虚しく破壊が行れる21世紀の世界において、いまいちど「残す」意味を見つめ直したい。

Shinji Hirabaru (平原慎士) Musician, Song Writer and Composer, Producer
Born in Fukuoaka, Japan in 1987, Shinji Hirabaru graduated from the University of North Texas in 2011 with degrees in Jazz and Anthropology. After relocating to Tokyo, he went on to compose, perform, and design countless pieces of music and other sound design works, and in 2017 he founded UnLike Sound Production.In recent years, he has been exploring new areas of musical expression through cross-disciplinary collaborations and novel uses of technology. His 2022 performance, Requiem for the People in Disarray, has received widespread acclaim. 2005 Winner of the Gibson Jazz Guitar Competition as the youngest runner-up 2020 Setagaya-ku Art Award.2021-2022 Kanazawa Citizen’s Art Village Resident Artist.

The traditional guitar quartet of guitar, piano, bass, and drums is enriched with ambient sounds from a second guitar and the addition of a string quartet, creating a uniquely captivating soundscape. The melody of this piece, designed around the concept of ever-changing interpretations by the performers, has the potential to resonate with listeners across borders, regardless of its arrangement.
