第18回桐蔭医用工学国際シンポジウム(18th TOIN International Symposium on Biomedical Engineering)を、2023年12月2日に桐蔭学園アカデミウムで開催しました。医用工学における異分野融合を目指し、海外からの招待講演者を迎えて活発な議論が交わされました。
４年ぶりに現地参加で海外から招待講演者を招き、コロナ禍以前と同様の規模で開催されました。第一線の研究者による基調講演は、「組織工学における血管再生」、「水産工学におけるナノテクノロジー」、「医用工学におけるAI」と多岐にわたりました。参加者は130名超となり、今年も東京工業大学、東京理科大学、東京都市大学、会津大学等から口演、ポスターともに多くの大学院生の参加をいただきました。招待講演者に現地参加いただいたことで、国際的な活躍を目指す学生への刺激となったことと思われます。
また、今年初の試みとして組織委員会に学生委員が設けられ、本学の工学研究科修士課程１年から有志11名が参加し、企画・運営を担当しました。忙しい研究と勉学の合間を縫って真摯に取り組み、当日は全員が自分の研究発表を行いつつ分担して会場運営を行い、シンポジウムを成功させることができました。
