ナイジェリアでは、2021年2月から中央銀行によって、ナイジェリアの金融機関が暗号資産の取引を実施することが禁止されていました。この禁止にも関わらず暗号資産の需要の高さからP2Pをベースにした取引は常に活発におこなわれていましたが、2023年12月にはその規制が解除され、ナイジェリアのWeb3企業だけでなく、スタートアップエコシステム全体においても暗号資産を活用していく動きが高まり、この流れはナイジェリアに進出するグローバルなWeb3企業に対してもナイジェリアでのプレゼンスを増す追い風となっています。

Kepple Africa Ventures has announced an investment in Ryodan Systems AG, a leading Swiss blockchain company building its innovative Ethereum Layer2 project, "INTMAX Stateless zkRollup" and the recently launched "INTMAX Wallet". This investment marks a strategic partnership aimed at facilitating the expansion of INTMAX in Africa.
Since 2018, Kepple Africa Ventures has been actively investing in African startups, with its total fund size reaching approximately ＄75M and the number of its total portfolio companies hitting 130. We believe in the growing importance of blockchain and Web3 technologies in Africa and have invested in more than twenty Web3 startups. We expect blockchain to play an increasingly significant role as a backend technology for new business models in Africa.
Web3 use cases have been widely integrated into different aspects of daily lives in Africa. For instance, blockchain technology is already partly used in interbank switching infrastructure in Nigeria, a very unique use case in the world. Nigeria also boasts the largest number of cryptocurrency holders in Africa, primarily driven by the need to protect the value of their assets against the devaluation of the Nigerian currency.
While International remittance serves as a crucial link between the African diaspora and their families in Africa, the steep fees associated with traditional remittance services can pose a barrier when the transferred amount barely covers the daily necessities of the recipients. Consequently, there has been a growing trend in embracing cryptocurrencies for cross-border remittances due to their low to zero cost and fast processing.

Stateless zkRollup Layer 2 Protocol
