米国調査会社ABIリサーチの調査レポート「【分析レポート：アプリケーション】スマートホームのロボット」は、スマートホームシステムへのロボット採用の現状と今後について査定し、今後5年間のスマートホームロボットの導入分析と予測を提供している。スマートホーム技術の出現で、生活者が時間を節約し、繰り返しの家事から解放されたことは、リモコンによってテレビセットから物理的なチャンネルが無くなったのと同じである。しかし、照明のスイッチ、ドアの施錠、サーモスタットなどは依然として物理的操作が必要で、現在のスマートホーム制御では多くの平凡な繰り返しの作業に対応できていない。スマートホームへのロボット機能の統合によって、物理的あるいはモビリティに依存している繰り返し動作をロボットによって管理することができるようになるだろう。
This report examines the current and future status of robotics adoption within smart home systems and provides analysis and forecasts for the development of smart home robotics over the next five years.
The appeal of smart home technology is in releasing residents from time-consuming and repetitive tasks in much the same way that the Television （TV） remote did away with physically channel on a TV set. Yet, even as smart home adoption enables residents from having to physically engage with light switches, door locks, thermostats and more, many additional mundane repetitive tasks remain throughout the home that fall outside of the current smart home control. The integration of robot capabilities within the smart home offers the promise of robot management of repetitive actions that rely on physicality and mobility.
