今回の英語版・中国語版展開(※1)の背景のひとつとしては、日本語版の展開時から、すでに海外におけるAI-SCHOLARのニーズの高まりを感じていたことがあげられます。海外からの一定数のアクセスだけでなく、AI-SCHOLARの取り組みが英語メディアで掲載されたり（※2）、中国語メディアにて「日本を代表する権威あるAI技術メディア」として取り上げられたりするなど、海外での実績も積み重ねてまいりました（※3）。

２.日本国内のAI情報の海外への発信

AI-SCHOLARが2018年9月のローンチ以降、約2年で業界有数のAIメディアへと飛躍することができた背景のひとつに、「言語の壁」があったと考えています。ただ、海外の最新AI論文を日本語へ翻訳することに大きな需要があった一方で、国内AI情報の海外への発信も、不足している状況です。AI-SCHOLARでは、世界トップ学会「CVPR」にて日本企業として唯一（※3）口頭発表を行なったリサーチャーに対し、インタビューを実施（※4）させていただくなど、国内最先端のAI情報についも発信してまいりました。それらの情報を海外に向けても発信すべく、今回3か国語での展開へと踏み切りました。

そして今回、AI-SCHOLARの3か国語展開に際しては、多言語化支援ツール「DeepL」を活用しております。DeepLは2020年の初めにニューラルネットワークの大幅な改善を行ない、翻訳精度が向上（※5）。DeepLを活用することにより、AI-SCHOLARの運営コストを大きく増加させることなく、3か国語展開を実施することが可能となりました。今後AI-SCHOLARは、日本国内だけでなくてグローバルなAIメディアとして、ミッション「AIをどこよりも分かりやすく！どこよりも身近に！」の実現を追求してまいります。

２.Dispatching AI information from Japan to overseas

One of the reasons why AI-SCHOLAR has been able to leap forward to become one of the leading AI media in the industry in about two years since its launch in September 2018 is that it has broken down the language barrier. However, while there was a great demand for translation of the latest overseas AI papers into Japanese, there was also a lack of ability to transmit domestic AI information overseas. AI-SCHOLAR has been disseminating the most advanced AI information in Japan by, for example, interviewing (※4) a researcher who was the only Japanese company to make an oral presentation (※3) at CVPR, the world's top academic conference. To share this information with the rest of the world, we have decided to launch the website in three different languages.
